Introducing Food and Recipes

When we go to a new places, food becomes very important to us, perhaps more important that it was at home.

For international students it becomes a comfort and is really important to their adjustment to living in NZ.

Quality and Quantity is very important.  Feeding teenagers is a challenge and for those with eating fads or dietry requirements it can be quite daunting for hosts.

Student Links can help you in this area – Our host co-oridinator is a wonderful cook and is constantly looking to new ideas and recipes to support our hosts with feeding their students well.

We will give you links to other websites that we think will be helpful and some of our most popular recipes will be posted here from time to time.

A couple of useful websites:

1.  www.recipezaar.com which if you go into the website and write the word CHILEAN into the search engine it comes up with 54 Chilean recipes or the link.

2.  www.recipehound.com  which when you go into you will see a list on the left hand side.        Scroll down until you come to Chile. When you are on the Chile page if you scroll to the bottom of the page you will see a link to "Helpful Spanish Cooking Related Terms".   Hosts have found this useful to print off and get the students to go through the list and tick what they like/dislike.

Here are some of our favourites:

Fried Minced pork with Thai basil
Dulce de Leche
